THE DOLE MANSION
This historical house has had several owners over the last 100years or so. Some of them may have left behind a few members who didn’t want to leave. This multi functional house has had everything from a day care center in the basement to a boarding school on the upper floors. Children have been seen waving and talking to empty rooms. A must see for any ghost hunter.
THE OLD SLAVE HOUSE
This old house has sent grown men screaming from the attic. In the 1800’s this house was used as a reverse under ground railroad. Many slaves were kept in tiny cell in the attic out of sight. Some were beaten and tortured so bad the died. The owner of the house John Crenshaw was one of the most evil men to ever reside in the state of Illinois. Over 150 people have attempted to spend the night in the attic and only one was able to make it. The attic is full of tortured souls who want any one living to stay out or face their wrath.
THE RED LION PUB
This lovely English style pub and restaurant on the North side of Chicago has its share of ghost. Some of them are regularly making noses or moving about the upper floors while others have appeared to some of the patrons and workers. The Red Lion Pub is located across the street from the Biography Theater where John Dillinger was gunned down after seeing a show. Both sides of the street seam to have something to offer if you’re looking for ghost.
WHITE CEMETERY
The White Cemetery is located near Barrington off Cuba road. This small cemetery has a history of bright white orbs that seam to float around the graves and tombstones of the cemetery. There are many witnesses to the lights including some of the police that patrol the area. The road next to the cemetery has also had many reports of a phantom car that will drive up and down then vanish into thin air. The best time to see anything is at dusk which is the most active.
RESURRECTION CEMETERY
Most off us have heard a story or two of the beautiful ghost that hitch hikes a ride and after being picked up vanishes outside the gates of a cemetery. This may be where that story started many years ago with the sighting of Resurrection Mary. One of Chicago lands most famous ghost. Mary has been known to hitch hike a ride with men that are along and go to the local dance’s clubs to enjoy a night of fun than leave on her own or returning with her date only to vanish while passing her real home “the cemetery”. This crafty little vixen seam to be able to lore her victims by appearing in a beautiful long white flowing dress just out side the cemetery gate. So be careful who you pick up on those cold dark nights outside of a cemetery. You might accidentally have a fun evening and a great story to share with the boys.
THE HANNAH HOUSE
The Hannah House is known as one of the most haunted places in the state Indiana, and for good reason. It has been known for unusual sightings, smells of rotting flesh, active poltergeists, ghost, and orbs and, last but not least bodies possible buried in the basement. It has been said that slave were kept in the basement and hidden on overnight stay as they were escaping to freedom. On one particular night a fire started in the basement where slaves were lock in a hidden room. Before the fire could be put out some of the slaves had been killed. To protect the owner the dead slaves had to be buried right were they died, in the basement. There is nothing on record to confirm this story because it was kept a secret but this house is holding many secrets and surprises in every room.
THE WILLARD LIBRARY
A ghostly visions of a mysterious woman dressed in gray has haunted this library for years. And it appears she’s in no hurry to leave because she keeps popping up to freight the patrons that come to visit this beautiful old library. The very first reported sighting was in 1937 by the janitor who had gone to the basement to shovel some coal to fuel the fire. He was suddenly stopped by the image of a women in a full length gray dress complete with gray shoes and a veil. Startled he dropped the flash light he had taken with him in order to see in the dark basement. By the time he picked up his flash light the image had vanished. He quickly left the basement and the library never to set foot in it again. Sense than there has been a huge wave of sightings in more than just the basement. So many in fact that the old library is now armed with ghost cams in several places that have frequent spottings. Most of these ghost cams can be viewed on line by going to hauntedindiana.com.
THE HAM HOUSE
Once the home of Mathias Ham, a prominent shipping tycoon. Who lived here with his wife and five children. After the death of her parents Sarah Ham remained in the large 23 room mansion alone. One night an intruder broke into the mansion only to be shot after approaching Sarah’s door. Sarah used a pistol to stop the intruder by firing a shot through the door which hit its target and caused the intruder to flee the house. Following the blood trail authorities found the dead body of a river pirate lying on the muddy banks of the Mississippi River.
Today a strange light can be observed near the house on many occasions. Perhaps the light of a river pirate looking for revenge for his sudden death at the hand of a frighten woman.
